While the repercussions of the Syrian army's cleansing of Aleppo from the PKK/YPG's Syrian extension, the SDF, continue, a noteworthy statement has come from the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated that they are closely monitoring the developments in Aleppo and its surroundings, saying, "We call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, avoid actions that could further escalate tensions, and prioritize the protection of civilians and critical infrastructure."
"RETURN TO THE NEGOTIATION TABLE"
Cooper noted that they continue to urge all actors in the region to return to the negotiation table in good faith and to seek a lasting diplomatic solution through dialogue, stating, "As I have expressed before, a Syria that is at peace with itself and its neighbors can pave the way for a more peaceful and prosperous Middle East. The U.S. and Syria have a common interest in maintaining peace and stability throughout the region."
