A large construction crane used for railway track laying in Thailand toppled onto a moving train. As a result of the accident, at least 22 people lost their lives, and many passengers were reported to be trapped in the train carriages.
A train traveling from the capital of Thailand to the northeast of the country derailed after a construction crane fell on one of the cars. At least 22 people lost their lives in the incident, while more than 30 were injured.
The accident occurred on Wednesday morning in the Sikhio district of Nakhon Ratchasima province, located 230 km (143 miles) northeast of Bangkok, on a train heading to Ubon Ratchathani province.
THE TRAIN CAUGHT FIRE SUDDENLY
Local police stated in a phone call to Reuters that a crane working on a high-speed train project toppled over and struck the passing train, causing it to derail and catch fire briefly.
THE TOLL IS QUITE HEAVY
The police reported that at least 22 people died in the horrific incident, while the fire has been extinguished and rescue operations have begun.
