MHP's Semih Yalçın responds to Özgür Özel: There is no investigation or inquiry regarding my son.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made striking statements regarding the corruption at the Yunus Emre Foundation during his party's group meeting at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) today.

"THEY RESIGNED AND FLED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CRIMINAL COMPLAINT"

Özel stated, "We are talking about a major corruption case equivalent to 700 million lira in today's money. The president of the foundation, Şeref Ateş, is a puppet of the AK Party. They said 'run,' and he fled abroad. The spouse of the Minister of Family, Rahmi Göktaş, and the son of MHP Deputy Semih Yalçın, Abdullah Kutalmış Yalçın, resigned and fled immediately after the criminal complaint. In this way, you are exonerated. No one is pursuing Semih Yalçın's son or the minister's spouse in the judicial authorities. In the investigation authorities, there are a few honest journalists and you, we, who object to this, are told 'they have resigned, they are not responsible,'" he said.

A RESPONSE CAME FROM SEMİH YALÇIN: TARGETING MY SON IS A DESPICABLE AND VILE POLITICAL STYLE

In response to Özel's statements, MHP Deputy Chairman and Istanbul Deputy Semih Yalçın stated that his son Abdullah Kutalmış Yalçın resigned for the sake of the integrity of the investigation and that there is no ongoing investigation against him. Yalçın said, "This is a requirement of moral, ethical, and bureaucratic responsibility; it is a duty for the judiciary to fulfill its role comfortably. Given this situation, Özgür Özel's direct mention of my name and targeting my son is a despicable and vile political style that does not conform to human dignity and honor."

"MY SON CONTRIBUTED TO THE OPERATION OF THE LAW WITH A COMMENDABLE ACTION"

Yalçın continued his remarks as follows: "My son A. Kutalmış Yalçın, whom Özgür Özel has shamelessly and indecently targeted, contributed to the operation of the law with a responsible and commendable action, while why have the mayors of CHP municipalities, shaken by corruption, not been able to display the same honorable stance? Why has Özgür Özel not requested the resignation of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and other mayors for the sake of the integrity of the investigation, claiming to show an honorable stance?"
