Students arriving for class in the morning at a middle school in Erdemli, Mersin, were greeted with the song of the late famous artist Ferdi Tayfur.

MASTER ARTIST PASSES AWAY

Ferdi Tayfur, a 79-year-old arabesque music artist and composer living in Marmaris, Muğla, was taken to the hospital by ambulance on December 15 due to hypertension issues. After being treated in the intensive care unit, Tayfur was transferred first by ambulance helicopter to the airport and then by air ambulance to Antalya on December 17 at the request of his family and the recommendation of specialist doctors. The master artist passed away yesterday evening in the hospital where he was being treated for organ failure. The sad news of Tayfur's passing saddened everyone in Mersin as well as across the country.
