The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched a comprehensive financial crime operation against the 'Alihan Kuriş' criminal organization. In the operation carried out in 17 provinces and 123 addresses, 30 suspects, including Alihan Kuriş, were detained.
MINISTER GURLEK: THERE IS NO OPERATION AGAINST A RELIGIOUS VIEW, BUT AN OPERATION TARGETING THE FINANCIAL STRUCTURE
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, who attended the AK Party 25th Anniversary Organization Gathering Program held at a hotel as part of the Trabzon program, answered questions from the press regarding the agenda.
Minister Akın Gürlek, responding to a question about the operation against the Alihan Kuriş Criminal Organization, said, "Due to crimes such as money laundering and violation of the tax law, a detention decision was issued for Alihan Kuriş and 48 others, 49 people in total. Here, I want to remind you that there is absolutely no operation against a religious view, a religious community, or civil society organizations. This is entirely an operation targeting the financial structure. This operation continues at the discretion of our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Currently, detention efforts are probably ongoing; there are those who have not been caught yet. But this was a file that had been followed and worked on for a long time."
OPERATION ON THE ATTACK ON THE TEAM BUS
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, when asked about the investigation into the armed attack on the Fenerbahçe bus in 2015 in the Sürmene district of Trabzon on the way back from the Rize away game, said: "You know, on April 4, 2015, an armed attack was carried out against the Fenerbahçe bus. Our colleagues were working on this file when we established the bureau for combating unsolved crimes, especially within the General Directorate of Criminal Affairs at the Ministry of Justice. New details were uncovered, and our Trabzon Chief Public Prosecutor's Office also found new evidence. A detention decision was issued for 5 people. 4 people were caught, 1 is a fugitive. The authority to conduct the investigation here belongs to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. So, I don't know if they have been referred for arrest or if the detention period has expired, but an operation was carried out by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, especially due to new evidence, HTS base station records, the recent capture of the rifle, and similar reasons. This is a study conducted by the unsolved crimes bureau. We continue our fight with interest and determination, especially regarding unsolved crimes."
