The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, stated, "The debt of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality to the Social Security Institution (SGK) has increased from 4.5 billion lira to 8.4 billion lira in 7 months, and is expected to reach 8.8 billion lira by September 2024. The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, made special statements to journalist Sinan Burhan, who was a guest on the program "Equal Weight with Erdoğan Aktaş" aired on tv100.

"SGK IS ONE OF TURKEY'S MAJOR INSTITUTIONS"

In response to a question about Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş's statement, "It appears that a collective attack has been initiated," Işıkhan replied, "The Social Security Institution (SGK) is one of the largest state institutions of the Republic of Turkey."

"ONE SHOULD NOT TRY TO DERIVE POLITICAL VICTIMIZATION FROM SGK'S OPERATIONS"

Stating that SGK collects premiums without granting privileges to any institution or individual, Minister Işıkhan said, "One should not try to derive political victimization from SGK's operations."

"IT HAS REACHED AN UNSUSTAINABLE POINT IN DEBT MANAGEMENT"

Işıkhan continued his remarks as follows: "The debt of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality to SGK has increased from 4.5 billion Lira to 8.4 billion Lira in 7 months, and by September 2024, it is expected to reach 8.8 billion Lira. This increase clearly indicates that the municipality has reached an unsustainable point in debt management."
