Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu announced that the cause of death of Ece Gürel, who was found four days after going missing in Belgrad Forest and passed away in the hospital where she was taken yesterday, was hypothermia.
A 36-year-old landscape architect, Ece Gürel, who got lost in Belgrad Forest in Istanbul and was found injured four days later, passed away despite all the interventions at the hospital where she was treated. Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu, who made a statement regarding the incident that became a hot topic in Turkey, announced that the cause of Ece Gürel's death was hypothermia.
"SHE HAD SEVERE HYPOTHERMIA"
Minister Memişoğlu stated in his remarks, "May God have mercy on her. We lost Architect Ece at 3 AM. She had severe hypothermia. Despite all our efforts, we could not save her. It is a tragic event. I wish patience to her family," he said.
UNABLE TO BE BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE
It was determined that Gürel had hypothermia due to being in the cold for a long time, and during her treatment, her heart had stopped for a while. After the doctors' intervention, Gürel was brought back to life and was intubated and taken to the intensive care unit. It was learned that Gürel's heart stopped for the second time at midnight, and despite the interventions, she passed away.
DISAPPEARANCE FILLED WITH SECRETS
Following Ece's death, striking claims regarding her disappearance emerged. According to information provided by her relatives, Gürel was interested in tarot reading and meditation and was involved in spiritual events. It was even claimed that she had an interest in a New Age cult that has spiritual and mystical characteristics, which also includes mass meditation. It was learned that Gürel had two different accounts on Instagram, one being her personal account and the other focused on fortune-telling. It was claimed that on this account, users asked questions, requested their affairs to go well, and for a fee, she provided fortune-telling and performed lead casting.
