The Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, provided a noteworthy response to the question, "Will we ever see scenes in this country where people wearing headscarves are not allowed back to school?" Minister Tekin argued that there is indeed such a risk, stating, "Unfortunately, when we look at the statements and discourses of certain political parties in Turkey, as well as their practices, we see this possibility." He reminded everyone of the events that took place in 2007.

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin came to the agenda with his response to the question posed by journalist Adem Metan, "Will we see scenes in this country where veiled people are not allowed back to school?"

REMINDING OF THE 2007 INCIDENT

Stating that this possibility is concerning, Minister Tekin expressed: "Unfortunately, when we look at the statements and discourses of some political parties in Turkey, and their practices, we see this possibility. I say, for example, 2007 is not a very old date. In 2007, changes were made to Articles 10 and 42 of the Constitution regarding the constitutional guarantee of the right to education and training, together with the AK Party and the MHP.

"HOW WILL YOU PREVENT THIS?"

The CHP brought this change to the Constitutional Court. In other words, this is not an event that happened before Christ. In their application to the Constitutional Court in 2007, the CHP said, 'You grant this right to university students today, but what will you do if state employees, teachers, and academics want to cover their heads tomorrow? How will you prevent this?

"IF NOT, LET THEM COME OUT AND EXPLAIN"

When I say this, they criticize me. They should come out and say, 'We thought that way in 2007, but we don't think that way now.' Let them explain this. I am speaking based on written documents. So, do you think the same way about a faculty member or a teacher covering their head as you did in 2007? Or do you not? Therefore, is there such a risk? Yes, there is such a risk, of course."
