"THE INVESTIGATION IS BEING CONDUCTED THOROUGHLY"
Tunç stated the following in a post on his social media account: "I send my best wishes to Judge Aslı Kahraman, a member of the 23rd Criminal Chamber of the Istanbul Regional Court of Appeals, who was attacked in Istanbul. The prosecutor, who was detained as part of the judicial investigation initiated immediately after the incident by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has been arrested by the duty magistrate court. The investigation is being conducted thoroughly."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
The incident occurred on January 13 at around 1:00 PM at the Kartal Regional Court of Appeals. Prosecutor Muhammed Çağatay Kılıçaslan, who works at the Anadolu Courthouse, fired a gun at Judge Aslı Kahraman while they were sitting in the room. Kahraman was injured in the groin area. At that moment, Yakup Karadağ, a tea server assigned to the courthouse from the Maltepe Open Penitentiary Institution, prevented Kılıçaslan from firing a second time.
While Kahraman was taken to the hospital, Prosecutor Kılıçaslan was detained. The detained prosecutor Kılıçaslan was transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse.
Kılıçaslan was arrested by the magistrate court to which he was referred after his statement, on the charge of 'attempted murder'.
