HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE SEARCHING
On the previous day, 43-year-old Huriye Helvacı and her 5-year-old son Osman Helvacı were last heard from after leaving their home in the Meteorology TOKİ Housing in the Central District of Bozkurt. Following a report made by their relatives to the 112 Emergency Call Center, the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE), the Kastamonu Police Department, and the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) under the Kastamonu Gendarmerie Command initiated a search operation. While the Red Crescent deployed a catering vehicle for the teams, volunteer citizens are also supporting the efforts.
LOOKING UNDER EVERY STONE FOR 3 DAYS
The search efforts have been intensified around Köseali village, where Huriye Helvacı's phone signal was last received, and the vicinity of Keşlik village. The search operations, which continued until late last night, were resumed this morning. The AFAD teams arriving from Ankara are supporting the ongoing search efforts on the third day with cadaver dogs. Teams conducting aerial scans with drones are also continuing their work on the ground in forested areas to find the mother and son.
