A frightening incident occurred shortly after takeoff on a passenger flight from Rome to China. A Boeing passenger plane belonging to Hainan Airlines caught fire in its engine. The aircraft, which took off from Fiumicino Airport in Rome, Italy, was headed to Shenzhen when it struck a bird immediately after takeoff. A fire broke out in the engine of the plane, which was carrying 249 passengers and 16 crew members, following the collision. The plane discharged fuel over the sea while implementing safety protocols and returned to the airport from which it had taken off. According to Italian authorities, the emergency landing was successfully carried out and did not cause any disruption to airport traffic. Aviation experts indicate that bird strikes can pose serious dangers, especially when they hit engines. The Dreamliner 787-9 aircraft, which took off at 09:55 local time, is now undergoing technical inspection. A similar incident occurred last year in Ecuador, where a pilot had a difficult time after colliding with a Andean Condor. The giant raptor broke the aircraft's windshield and entered the cockpit. Despite being injured, pilot Ariel Valiente managed to land the plane safely. In the incident in Rome, there were no casualties or injuries, and it is planned for the passengers on the plane to continue their journey on another flight.
