Morocco's New Government Gets Vote Of Confidence

King Mohammed VI approved new government led by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch on Oct. 7.

Morocco's new coalition government under the leadership of Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch received a vote of confidence Wednesday from the country's parliament.
Rachid Talbi Alami, the speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives, announced that in voting held after a parliamentary session, 213 lawmakers gave the government their vote of confidence.
Some 64 lawmakers voted against the government while one abstained, Alami added.
The liberal National Rally of Independents (RNI) party won the most seats in the country's parliamentary elections held on Sept. 8 followed by the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) and Istiqlal Party.
On Sept. 10, King Mohammed VI tasked then RNI president Aziz Akhannouch with forming a new government.
On Sept. 22, Akhannouch announced that the three biggest winners of the election had agreed to form a coalition government.
King Mohammed VI approved the new government led by Akhannouch on Oct. 7.
