After the operation against Can Holding, Muharrem Sarıkaya, who became memorable for slapping a reporter experiencing sound problems during a live broadcast on Habertürk, has been dismissed from his duties as the TMSF was appointed as the trustee.
After the investigation into Can Holding, significant developments are occurring in the management and staffing structure of Habertürk, where the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) has been appointed as the trustee. Following the arrest of the channel's General Manager Mehmet Akif Ersoy in connection with a drug investigation, a series of separation decisions have been made in the Ankara structure.
MUHARREM SARIKAYA'S TERM HAS ENDED
Ankara Representative Fevzi Çakır announced his resignation from his position yesterday. Immediately after this development, it was learned that the TMSF management also severed ties with Muharrem Sarıkaya, one of the channel's former Ankara representatives.
HE HAD SLAPPED A REPORTER
Muharrem Sarıkaya, who served as the Ankara Representative of Sabah Newspaper until 2009, was appointed to the vacant position of Ciner Media Group's Ankara Representative after Çiğdem Toker's resignation in the same year.
In 2021, Sarıkaya drew significant public backlash after footage emerged of him slapping İHA Gaziantep reporter Ahmet Demir during a live broadcast featuring Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin.
Following these events, Sarıkaya was forced to resign from his position as Ankara Representative on December 20, 2021. On February 14, 2022, he began writing columns again at Habertürk.
