Greece has deployed Israeli missiles: Turkey is the primary threat.

Greece, which continues to expand its military capacity against Turkey, has deployed Israeli-made Spike NLOS missiles to the Evros border and the islands. Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, who made a scandalous statement by declaring Turkey as the "primary and fundamental threat," held Ankara responsible for the arms race.

Greece continues to arm itself on the islands against Turkey. Athens, which is trying to find solutions against Turkey's naval and UAV capabilities, is making agreements with Israel.

ATHENS DEPLOYED ISRAELI-MADE MISSILES

The Greek Army has recently deployed Israeli-made Spike NLOS missiles, which can make precision strikes against land and air targets, to Evros Island. The missiles, which entered the inventory in August, were quickly distributed to the islands.

"TURKEY IS THE PRIMARY AND FUNDAMENTAL THREAT"

During the discussions of the 2026 Fiscal Year State Budget in the General Assembly of Parliament, Defense Minister Nikos Dendias stated that Turkey is the 'primary and fundamental threat' to Greece. Dendias said, "This question has been asked to me many times. I have clearly presented where the primary and fundamental threat comes from, with numbers."

Dendias argued that Turkey's defense spending has increased and that it threatens Greece with war, stating, "This does not mean that there are no other threats. However, when there is an openly stated threat of war, everything else takes a back seat."

SPIKE NLOS MISSILES

Spike NLOS (Non-Line-of-Sight) is the longest-range and most advanced member of the Spike missile family developed by Israel-based Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. The key feature that distinguishes this missile system from others is its ability to hit targets with high precision from distances of approximately 32 to 50 kilometers without the operator needing to see the target directly (beyond line of sight). Capable of moving like a "cruise" munition, Spike NLOS has a "fiber optic or radio data link" technology that allows real-time image transmission to the operator during flight, enabling the target to be updated, changed, or the attack to be canceled in mid-air.

Thanks to its versatile structure, the system can be launched from helicopters, naval platforms, or ground vehicles; making it extremely effective against both mobile armored units and strategic fixed targets. Considered one of the deadliest anti-tank and multi-purpose missiles on the modern battlefield, Spike NLOS provides a strategic advantage, especially with its ability to make safe shots from outside enemy air defense range and in challenging terrain conditions.
