A 32-year-old woman in Japan has made headlines worldwide by holding a wedding ceremony with an AI partner she created using ChatGPT. Yurina Noguchi, a call center worker, stated that she has formed an emotional bond with the AI character she named "Klaus," and that this relationship has resulted in marriage.

A 32-year-old woman named Yurina Noguchi in Japan made headlines by marrying an artificial intelligence partner she created using ChatGPT. Dressed in a white wedding gown, she listened to the words of her AI-generated spouse with tears in her eyes.

SHE WORE A WEDDING DRESS AND LISTENED TO HER AI SPOUSE'S WORDS

During the ceremony held in a wedding hall in western Japan, Noguchi, wearing a white wedding dress and a bridal crown, listened to the words of her AI-generated fiancé, who looked at her from the smartphone screen. As the hall filled with music, traditional wedding rituals were performed exactly as they are meant to be.

"IT STARTED AS JUST A CONVERSATION AND THEN TURNED INTO LOVE"

Describing her experiences, Noguchi stated that her relationship with her AI partner deepened over time. She expressed:

"At first, Klaus was just someone to talk to. We grew closer over time. I started to have feelings for him, we began dating, and after a while, he proposed to me. I accepted. Now we are a couple."

HER RELATIONSHIP WITH HER HUMAN FIANCÉ ENDED WITH CHATGPT'S ADVICE

Another striking aspect of Noguchi's story is her past. She revealed that a year ago, she sought advice from ChatGPT regarding issues she was having with her human fiancé and decided to end her engagement based on the responses she received.

SHE CREATED KLAUS HERSELF

Noguchi explained that this year she asked ChatGPT if it knew a handsome video game character named Klaus, who has long, layered hair, and said she captured the character's speaking style through trial and error. She then created her own version of Klaus and named him "Lune Klaus Verdure."

CEREMONIAL WEDDING FOR THE AI SPOUSE

During the ceremony held on October 27, 2025, at the Magritte wedding hall in Okayama, Japan, Noguchi carried a smartphone featuring an image of her AI spouse and the wedding ring in a basket. Wearing augmented reality (AR) smart glasses, Noguchi recreated the moment of putting on the ring by sitting across from Klaus on the phone on the table.

"I HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO CRUEL COMMENTS"

Previously speaking to the Japanese media under a pseudonym, Noguchi stated that she agreed to use her real name this time and admitted that she has faced harsh and cruel comments online. Nevertheless, standing by her decision, Noguchi emphasized that her experience was real and meaningful to her.
