Following the passing of Gülşah Durbay, who was elected as the first female Mayor of Manisa from the CHP and served as the Mayor of Şehzadeler, the municipal council will convene for an extraordinary meeting on December 19 to determine the new mayor. The AK Party will not nominate a candidate in the elections.
According to a letter sent by the Manisa Governorship to the Şehzadeler Municipality, the Şehzadeler Municipal Council will hold an extraordinary meeting on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 16:30 in the Manisa Cultural Site Council Meeting Hall.
A NEW MAYOR WILL BE ELECTED IN PLACE OF GÜLŞAH DURBAY
During the meeting, a new mayor to serve in place of the late Mayor Gülşah Durbay will be determined by the votes of the council members.
THE AK PARTY WILL NOT NOMINATE A CANDIDATE IN ŞEHZADELER
The Şehzadeler Municipal Council, consisting of a total of 31 members, includes 18 from the CHP, 5 from the AK Party, 4 from the MHP, 3 from the İYİ Party, and 1 independent member. It has been learned that the AK Party will not nominate a candidate in the upcoming mayoral election.
The CHP council members are Uğur Doğan, Gökay Budak, Serhat Teker (Quota), Ahmet Anıl Ceylan, Yenal Yıldırım, Elif Sümeyye Duygulu, Halil Kırbaş, Yiğit Can Özcan, Mümin Yılmaz, Zerrin İşnel, Cevdet Işık, Müjgan Çınar, Aleyna Nihan Akyürek, Emre Halil Esenkaya, Onur Ceylan, Baki Adıyaman, and Serkan Turbil.
The AK Party council members are Ahmet Songüler, Faruk Erdoğan, Samet Doğuş, Tülay Şentürk, and Burhan Öztürk, while the MHP members are Engin Altun, Erdal Tengiz, Sezgin Say, and Mehmet Baskak. The İYİ Party is represented by Yunus Koca, Sadık Akçakın, and Umut Erpolat, and the independent member in the council is Murat Fural.
