The Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, Muhittin Böcek, who is detained in prison and suspended from his duties, was urgently hospitalized at night due to sudden health issues related to his stomach, kidneys, and neck. There has been no official statement regarding the health condition of Böcek, who has prostate enlargement and was recently decided to undergo surgery.
Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation into "bribery" and "corruption," during which Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek was arrested and suspended from duty, has been taken to the hospital.
HE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL
Böcek was urgently taken to Antalya City Hospital late at night due to his deteriorating health condition while being held in prison.
EXTRAORDINARY SECURITY MEASURES WERE TAKEN
Extraordinary security measures were taken for Böcek, who was brought to the hospital due to sudden ailments in the kidney, stomach, and neck areas. No official statement has been made yet regarding Böcek's health condition.
A decision had been made for Muhittin Böcek, who has prostate enlargement, to undergo surgery in recent days.
ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION
In the investigation conducted by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding "bribery" and "corruption," Muhittin Böcek and his former daughter-in-law Z.K. were detained on July 5, while Böcek's son, suspect Mustafa Gökhan Böcek, was found to be abroad.
On the same day, Muhittin Böcek, who was referred to the courthouse, was arrested, while his former daughter-in-law Z.K. was released under a travel ban and judicial control conditions.
Following the decision, Muhittin Böcek was suspended from duty by the Ministry of Interior.
His daughter-in-law Zuhal Böcek, who returned from abroad, was also caught and arrested at the airport on July 27 on the charge of "money laundering from crime-related assets."
As part of the investigation, 17 people were detained in a simultaneous operation conducted on addresses determined on August 12, of which 2 were released after their procedures at the police, while 8 of the 15 suspects referred to the courthouse were arrested, 5 were released under judicial control, and 2 were released after their statements to the prosecutor's office.
A.A, B.Ç, M.Y., and Y.Y., who received contracts from the Metropolitan Municipality, were alleged to have given 195 million lira in bribes to Muhittin Böcek and his son Mustafa Gökhan Böcek to receive their payments. A currency exchange office, where the bribe money was allegedly deposited, and 2 jewelry businesses, where this money was claimed to be converted into gold, were appointed as trustees.
Mustafa Gökhan Böcek was detained and arrested when he arrived at Antalya Airport from Vienna on August 19.
During the continuation of the investigation, İlker Arslan, who was suspended from his position at the Antalya Police Department and surrendered after a detention order was issued against him, and businessman F.A. were also arrested on September 7.
In an operation conducted by police teams on September 10, among the 21 suspects detained, businessman M.E.H, owner of Kanal V television M.O.K, former Deputy Secretary General of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality T.S, director of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality company ANT Tepe I.E., and sales staff L.Ş. were arrested, while 3 people, including Böcek's former daughter-in-law Z.K., were released under judicial control. M.E.H, T.S., and I.E., who benefited from the effective remorse provisions, were released on September 27. In an operation conducted on October 14, among the 6 people detained, E.T.Ç, S.Ç., and Ö.Y.K. were arrested.
