Murder or suicide? A report has emerged that could exonerate the detained husband in the young woman's death.

Günay Sena Sert (23), who was shot dead by her husband İbrahim Sert (21) during an argument in Adana, was found to have gunpowder residue in the swabs taken from her hands during a forensic examination. İbrahim Sert, who was arrested as a murder suspect but claimed that his wife committed suicide, did not have this residue in the samples taken from him. The report following the examination stated, "It has been observed that all swab samples belonging to Günay Sena Sert contain traces of gunshot residue."

The incident occurred on December 8 in the Gültepe neighborhood of the Sarıçam district. An argument broke out when Günay Sena Sert saw a message from a woman on her husband İbrahim Sert's mobile phone. During the argument, Günay Sena Sert was shot in the chest with İbrahim Sert's gun and was seriously injured. İbrahim Sert shouted for help and tried to carry his wife outside the apartment. As Günay Sena Sert fell to the ground, İbrahim Sert took off his shirt and used it as a tampon for her wound. Those moments and the panic experienced by İbrahim Sert were captured by the apartment's security camera.

"SHE COMMITTED SUICIDE, I DID NOT KILL HER"

Upon receiving the notification, a large number of teams were dispatched to the area. Medical personnel performed CPR on the woman whose heart had stopped and took her to the hospital. Günay Sena Sert, who was treated in the intensive care unit, passed away the same day. In the autopsy conducted by the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute, it was determined that Günay Sena Sert was shot in the abdomen and chest at close range, and she was buried by her family. İbrahim Sert, who was taken into custody by the police and stated in his testimony, "My wife saw a message from a woman on my phone. She got angry and took my gun and shot herself. She committed suicide, I did not kill her," was arrested.

THE FAMILY CLAIMED GÜNAY WAS MURDERED

On the other hand, Günay Sena Sert's family filed a complaint, stating that İbrahim Sert killed their daughter. The family expressed that their daughter had been assaulted several times before, and there were restraining orders against İbrahim Sert, and they submitted the documents to the prosecutor's office.

TRACES OF GUNSHOT RESIDUE WERE FOUND

Under the instruction of the prosecutor's office, hand swabs were taken from İbrahim Sert and Günay Sena Sert on the day of the incident and sent to the Adana Criminal Police Laboratory for examination. The examination revealed gunpowder residue on Günay Sena Sert's hands, while no such traces were found in the samples taken from İbrahim Sert. The report following the examination stated, "It has been observed that all swab samples belonging to Günay Sena Sert contain traces of gunshot residue."

It was reported that İbrahim Sert, who was determined not to have used the gun on the day of the incident, is currently in prison.
