Nahit Eren pointed out the biggest contradiction in the Narin case.

Nahit Eren pointed out the biggest contradiction in the Narin case.

12.11.2024 09:30

The former president of the Diyarbakır Bar Association, Nahit Eren, explained what happened in the case regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran. Eren stated that the family did not suspect Nevzat Bahtiyar until Narin's lifeless body was found and the trial took place, saying, "During the trial, the entire family turned against Nevzat. Family members passing by Nevzat in between the sessions were hurling insults and threats."

The former president of the Diyarbakır Bar Association, Nahit Eren, shared the events of the Narin Güran murder trial during a program he attended on TELE1. Eren noted that the trial lasted for 3 days, during which the statements of 4 defendants and all witnesses were taken, emphasizing that significant progress was made. He stated that the first hearing was one that revealed the material truth, expressing an expectation for an immediate decision, but mentioned that there would be certain processes involved.

"IT WAS A SUCCESSFUL TRIAL PERIOD"

Describing the trial as different, Eren said, "Press workers shared posts on social media like trial minutes. The presiding judge was also aware of this and had no objections. It was a successful trial period. It is important for the court panel to address the contradictory statements of the defendants and witnesses. I see the first session as productive based on the stage we have reached." he said.

"IF NARIN HAD BEEN FOUND EARLIER, DNA EVIDENCE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN LOST"

Responding to allegations that the law enforcement's efforts were insufficient, Nahit Eren stated, "If the law enforcement had conducted a more effective operation in the field, and if Narin had been found earlier, the DNA evidence would not have been lost."

"THE FAMILY REACTED"

Commenting on the relationship allegations between uncle Salim and mother Yüksel Güran, Nahit Eren said, "There is a child whose right to life was violated at the age of 8. The aim is not to comment on why this was done, but for those responsible for violating this right to life to receive the necessary punishments. The trial was criticized by both the defendants' lawyers and family members. However, it is a known fact that such topics are discussed in murder case hearings. The family reacted to us. We have been saying since day one that the material truth should be revealed." he stated.

"MOTHER YÜKSEL GÜRAN EXPRESSED HER DISCONTENT OVER RELATIONSHIP ALLEGATIONS"

Highlighting that father Arif Güran wants the killers of Narin to be revealed, Nahit Eren expressed, "We want that too," emphasizing that the truth needs to be told. He noted that mother Yüksel Güran made an emotional speech and expressed her discontent over the relationship allegations.

Regarding the relationship allegations, Nahit Eren said, "This is an allegation reflected in the statements. Such allegations should not prevent the discussion of this case. If she also wants the killer of her child to be revealed, we want that too. We really did not understand the family's reaction towards us. We can agree with everyone who says that Narin's killer should be revealed. All efforts are for the revelation of the killers." he said.

"THE FAMILY DID NOT SUSPECT NEVZAT UNTIL NARIN WAS FOUND"

Stating that the informant Nevzat Bahtiyar was targeted by family members, Eren explained the situation before and after the trial:

"There was not a single suspicion regarding Nevzat in the family until Narin was found. In his statement on August 28, father Arif Güran says he suspects even his own family due to their behavior, but Nevzat is still not mentioned. During the trial, the entire family turned towards Nevzat. Family members passing by Nevzat were hurling insults and threats."
