National shooter Yusuf Dikeç, who shook the Paris Olympics, has announced his goal for 2028.

Yusuf Dikeç, who won a silver medal for Turkey in the mixed team competition of the 10m air pistol at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, has returned to the country. Dikeç and his teammates were welcomed at Istanbul Airport by officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and young athletes, on a Turkish Airlines plane departing from the French capital, Paris. Dikeç, who was the most talked-about name of the Olympics with his shooting style, said that his goal for the 2028 Olympics is to win a gold medal.

"WE REAPED THE REWARDS OF OUR HARD WORK"

Speaking to the press, Yusuf Dikeç stated that he has reaped the rewards of his 24 years of hard work, saying, "We are very happy to have won the first Olympic medal in shooting in the history of our country. We went to the Olympics with the prayers of 85 million people who supported us. We did not come back empty-handed. Actually, our intention was to win the gold medal. We prepared very well. We came first in the World Cup held in Brazil in February. We won first place again in the competition held in Germany a month ago. Luck was not on our side here. Our record-breaking performance in the qualifiers showed that we were a good team. Despite all these misfortunes, we still won a silver medal for our country."

Yusuf Dikeç, who did not use equipment such as lenses, eye caps, or ear protection during the competitions and became the most talked-about name of Paris 2024 with his shooting posture, said, "We may look calm, but storms are raging inside us. Our hearts feel like they are about to burst. We try not to show it. I can't feel comfortable with equipment because I shoot with both eyes open. One needs to highlight their own talent. I believe in this. The talk of the world press makes us happy and motivated. I didn't expect it to be this big. I was surprised. I got the quota a little late this year. I was in the top 5 or 7 in 2024. After the quota, we won a medal. We won this medal on behalf of 85 million people, on behalf of Turkey. This is a team effort. It's like a theater, everyone has a role. When you play your role well, something beautiful comes out in the end. We did our best and achieved success."

Yusuf Dikeç, who participated in the Olympics for the 5th time and believed that he represented Turkey in the best way for 24 years, said, "Our next goal is the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. I said to my friend Damir, who came first, 'We entrust the gold to you, we will take it back in 2028.' He laughed. I think we will win the gold medal in 2028, and then I think it will be time to retire if God permits."
