Gold and Money Markets Expert İslam Memiş described the year 2026 as the "year of manipulation" and stated, "In this environment, the biggest losers will be those who engage in short-term trading and those who open leveraged positions. Those who trade with leverage will go bankrupt." Memiş pointed to silver as the champion of the new year, saying, "Silver has dethroned gold. The champion of 2026 will again be silver."
Islam Memiş, an expert in Gold and Currency Markets, made critical assessments for investors as we prepare to leave 2025 behind. Describing 2026 as the "year of manipulation," Memiş announced the investment vehicle he declared the "champion" of the new year as "silver," warning short-term and leveraged traders that "you will go bankrupt."
"UNDISPUTED CHAMPION OF 2026: SILVER"
Islam Memiş shared his expectations for the year 2026. He noted that after the historic records seen in silver prices in October, the markets have encountered new peaks, reminding that the price of gram silver is at 73.97 TL and the price of ounce silver is at 54 dollars.
Emphasizing that the main reason for the rise in silver is the decline in the gold-silver ratio, Memiş stated:
"Silver, the champion of 11 months, dethroned gold. It provided more profit than gold, and we were already expecting silver as the champion of this year. The main reason for the rise in silver is the decline in the gold-silver ratio. When the ratio fell to 77, silver provided more profit to its investors compared to gold. I clearly state; the champion of 2025 was silver, and the champion of 2026 will again be silver. I expect the ratio to drop to around 67 in 2026, which will further elevate silver prices."
"WE EXPECT THREE-DIGIT NUMBERS IN THE PRICE OF GRAM SILVER"
Memiş expressed that technical corrections are inevitable in the short term, stating that the 52 dollar level for ounce silver constitutes strong support. He mentioned that the levels of 75 TL and 74 TL for gram silver may face profit sales in the short term.
Regarding annual expectations, Memiş is optimistic:
"For the year 2026, we expect three-digit numbers in the price of gram silver. Our expectation is 120 TL for gram and 75 dollars for ounce."
"THOSE WHO TRADE WITH LEVERAGE WILL GO BANKRUPT"
Memiş's harshest warning regarding 2026 was about investment strategies. Indicating that he expects sharp fluctuations in market dynamics next year, Memiş made the following assessments:
"The year 2026 will be a year of manipulation. A market awaits us where there will be sharp declines for one month and sharp increases for another, with reduced predictability. In this environment, the biggest losers will be those who engage in short-term trading and those who open leveraged positions. Those who trade with leverage will go bankrupt. Our investment strategy for that year must be clear."
