The deadline for the second installment payments of the property tax is tomorrow. Payments can be made through municipalities and e-Government. A monthly late fee of 3.5% will be applied to those who do not pay their taxes on time.
Citizens who own real estate such as buildings, land, and workplaces have until tomorrow to pay the second installment of their property tax. The tax can be paid by going to the municipality where the property is located or online through e-Government.
WHO IS EXEMPT FROM PROPERTY TAX?
Retirees who own a single residence not exceeding 200 square meters, as well as retired widows and orphans receiving pensions, are exempt from property tax. Disabled individuals, veterans, and those who can document that they have no income are also included in the exemption.
“NOT WORKING” CONDITION FOR RETIREES
To benefit from this right, retirees must not be actively working. Retirees who are employed or engaged in commercial activities cannot benefit from the exemption; however, their exemption rights begin from the date they stop working.
Another condition for those with no income and retirees is that the total of capital income such as deposit interest and dividends obtained last year must not exceed 230,000 Turkish Lira.
EXEMPTION DATE FOR NEW RETIREES
Those who submitted their retirement application this year will be required to pay the property tax for the year 2025. Their exemption rights will begin from 2026.
