In the night when the assassination attempt on Hamas' Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh took place in the capital of Iran, Tehran, it was reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant were at the Defense Ministry complex in Tel Aviv.

NETANYAHU WAS AT THE DEFENSE MINISTRY DURING THE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT

According to the Israeli state television KAN, Netanyahu and Gallant spent the night of the assassination attempt on Haniyeh at the Defense Ministry complex in the capital city of Tel Aviv. However, according to Yediot Ahranot, while the Prime Minister and Defense Minister were spending the night at this complex, other ministers were unaware of what was happening.

It was reported that Netanyahu went to the Defense Ministry to hold a security consultation after the assassination attempt on Fuad Shukr, a member of Hezbollah's leadership in the capital of Lebanon, Beirut, yesterday. On July 30, the Israeli army carried out an airstrike on a building in the Huhreyk neighborhood of Beirut's southern region, where Hezbollah's Shura Council is located, killing 2 children and 1 woman and injuring 74 people.

The Israeli army announced that it killed Fuad Shukr, one of Hezbollah's commanders, in the attack, but Hezbollah did not confirm this news.

HANIYEH ASSASSINATION

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced in a statement they made in the early hours of July 31 that an attack was carried out on Haniyeh's residence in Tehran. Iran and the Hamas Movement held Israel responsible for this cowardly assassination.

Born in a refugee camp in Gaza in 1962, Ismail Haniyeh has been an important figure since the establishment of Hamas. Haniyeh, who has been imprisoned by Israel several times, survived an assassination attempt by Israel in 2003. Three years later, after Hamas won the elections, Haniyeh briefly served as the Prime Minister of Palestine. In 2017, he was elected as the head of Hamas' political bureau.

Haniyeh led the Hamas delegation in negotiations mediated by Qatar, the United States, and Egypt.
