The lifeless body of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing in Diyarbakır and was searched for days, was found yesterday morning, plunging Turkey into mourning. "CONCRETE EVIDENCE COULD NOT BE PROVIDED AS THE BODY HAD STARTED TO DECAY"The new details that emerged from Narin's preliminary autopsy were chilling, to say the least. Journalist İsmail Saymaz reported that in the minutes, it was emphasized that the experts could not provide a concrete statement due to the significant decay of the body. LEFT LEG AMPUTATEDSaymaz stated that there was an amputation from the knee cap on Narin's left leg and a flute bone, which was considered to belong to the little girl, was found in the bag where the body was found. He also mentioned that the cause of the amputation in the leg would be determined by the examination to be conducted at the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute. CAUSE AND TIME OF DEATH UNCERTAINSaymaz stated that there were no visible signs of stab or gunshot wounds on Narin Güran's lifeless body, and due to the decay of the body, no statement could be made about the time of death. He also mentioned that the definite cause of death could be determined through molecular examinations, pathological studies, and examinations to be conducted on the samples sent to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute by the Diyarbakır Forensic Medicine Institute Biology Specialization Department. It is stated that the definite cause of Narin's death will be announced within a minimum of 15 days and a maximum of 1 month. WHAT HAPPENED?Narin Güran, who went to a Quran course in Tavşantepe Neighborhood of Bağlar district on August 21, did not return home after the course, and her family searched for her with their own means. When no results were obtained from the search, Narin's father, Arif Güran, reported that his daughter was missing at around 20:00 on the same day. As a result, numerous search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area, and searches were conducted in houses in the neighborhood and vehicles entering the village. While the search was ongoing, Narin Güran's brother E.G. (18) was detained due to bite marks on his arm. When it could not be determined whether the bite marks belonged to Narin in the examination at the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute, E.G. was released. Then Narin's uncle, who is also the muhtar (village head) of rural Tavşantepe Neighborhood, Salim Güran, was detained. Salim Güran, whose DNA samples taken from his car matched the DNA samples from Narin's clothes, was arrested on charges of "intentional killing" and "deprivation of liberty". The teams, who focused on the previously searched areas again, conducted a search in Eğertutmaz Stream, 2 kilometers away from the neighborhood, and found Narin's lifeless body on the 19th day. It was determined that Narin was thrown into the stream with a bag after being killed, and the bag was covered with stones.
