A new era is beginning at ATMs in 81 provinces. The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) has taken a new step to prevent credit and debit card fraud. FOUNDING YEARS OF FOOTBALL TEAMS BANNEDIt is now completely prohibited to use the founding dates of football teams as passwords. Those who insist on using such passwords will have their cards blocked. Lawyer Nimet Türe stated, "Fans can no longer use their teams' founding dates as bank passwords." BDDK DECISION PUBLISHEDPreviously, measures were taken to prevent the use of birth dates as passwords, but the regulation has been expanded to prohibit the use of both the founding dates of teams and repeated license plate numbers as passwords, said Lawyer Nimet Türe. "Due to the widespread nature of card cloning, especially when the password is predictable, the BDDK had taken a precaution. The first measure was a decision stating that birth dates, as well as years like 1453, 1881, and 1915, could not be used as passwords, and that passwords containing a person's own birth date would not be allowed. However, this situation led to fans increasingly using license plate repetitions, and when fans incorporated their founding years into their passwords, the predictability of passwords increased as license plate repetitions became more common. This has led to a higher risk of theft and fraud, which is why the regulation has been expanded," he summarized the situation.
