The escalating war between the US-Israel and Iran has affected oil supply. Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have pushed oil prices to their highest levels in history. Following these developments, a new increase in diesel prices is anticipated. Starting from April 1, a price increase of 2 lira and 52 kuruş per liter of diesel is expected. After the increase, the price of diesel will exceed 80 lira per liter.

While there are serious disruptions in the global oil supply, the ongoing war between the US-Israel and Iran has affected the markets as it spreads to the Gulf region. Due to ships being stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, entries and exits have come to a standstill.

STRAIT OF HORMUZ DISRUPTED TRADE

The disruption of transit through the strait has created pressure on global trade. As there are fractures in supply chains, the dysfunction of the Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately 30% of the world's oil passes, has directly affected fuel prices.

2 LIRA 52 KURUŞ INCREASE IN DIESEL

As the global oil crisis deepens, a new increase in fuel prices is anticipated. Sources in the fuel sector indicate that a price increase of 2 lira 52 kuruş is expected in the diesel group. The price increase is expected to reflect at the pump starting from Wednesday, April 1, 2026. On the other hand, no changes in gasoline prices are anticipated as of March 31, 2026.

WHAT WILL DIESEL PRICES BE AFTER THE INCREASE?

With the expected increase coming into effect, diesel prices are expected to exceed the psychological threshold in some cities. Accordingly, it is anticipated that the price of diesel per liter will rise to 77.39 lira in Istanbul, 78.52 lira in Ankara, 78.79 lira in Izmir, and 80.24 lira in the Eastern provinces.
