The "Regulation on Amendments to the Regulation on Pre-School Education and Primary Education Institutions" prepared by the Ministry of National Education (MEB) has been published in the Official Gazette. With the new regulation, changes have been made from class repetition to break times and transfer procedures. BREAK TIMES HAVE BEEN SHORTENEDWith the regulation, arrangements have been made to allow kindergarten classes to be opened in secondary schools as well. In single education, the minimum time allocated for meals and rest in schools has been reduced from 40 minutes to 30 minutes, facilitating the determination of lunch break duration for school management and parents. An arrangement has been made for the MEB Geographic Information System unit official to participate in the commission's work to determine student registration areas. During school registration processes, parents may be asked for a "proof document" such as a water, electricity, or natural gas bill. TRANSFER TIMES CLARIFIEDSchool transfer times have been clarified, and the times and conditions for transitioning to vocational secondary schools have been determined. Transfers for students wishing to transition to vocational secondary schools will be made exempt from compulsory vocational courses during the 5th and 6th grades throughout the academic year, and until the last working day of September in the 7th grade. Transfers to other secondary schools with different programs will be carried out in accordance with the guide prepared by the Ministry. Facilitation has been provided for the children of families with individuals undergoing long-term treatment in the hospital. EASE OF TRANSFER FOR SIBLINGSTransfers of siblings who are forced to attend different schools due to the opening of a new school, changing the registration area, or the parent's change of address can be made to one of the siblings' schools at the request of the parent. A student who has been subjected to negative behavior requiring a reprimand or higher penalty may be transferred to another school with the written application of their parent and the appropriate opinion of the guidance service. REPORTS WILL BE GIVEN INSTEAD OF REPORT CARDSThe equivalency exams for students coming from abroad to Turkey will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of National Education Equivalency Regulation published in the Official Gazette on July 9, 2024. In line with the updated curriculum within the scope of the Turkey Century Education Model, at the end of each term, instead of report cards, a "skill acquisition report" will be given in pre-school education, and a "development report" will be given in primary schools. CLASS REPETITION HAS ARRIVEDTo enable faster tracking of student absences, the deadline for parents to submit an excuse document or statement to the school has been set at 3 days. Methods for notifying parents of students who cannot attend exams for any reason or who cannot submit their projects on time have been supplemented with SMS. In primary schools, parents of students who have not reached the required competency level requested by the school administration will be informed in writing, via email, or SMS every May regarding class repetition. Upon this notification, the parent can request class repetition by submitting a petition to the school administration until one week before the end of the academic year. Class repetition will be applied once during primary education. It has been made possible for students in inclusive education in pre-school education and primary education institutions, as well as students in special education classes, to request class repetition by submitting a petition to the school administration until one week before the end of the academic year.
