Days before the critical hearing in the Leyla Aydemir case seen in Ağrı, it was learned that mother Şükran Aydemir parted ways with her lawyer Erdoğan Tunç and will not continue the case with any lawyer. All eyes are on the hearing scheduled for April 10.
A significant development occurred in the Leyla Aydemir case, which the public has been closely following in Ağrı. It was stated that just days before the hearing scheduled for April 10, the mother, Şükran Aydemir, parted ways with her lawyer Erdoğan Tunç and would not be granting power of attorney to another lawyer. Lawyer Erdoğan Tunç stated in his announcement that he has made intense efforts for the effective progress of the judicial process since the beginning of the case and expressed that he presented important evidence to the file. Tunç reminded that a reversal decision was made by the Court of Cassation based on this evidence and that the case has started to be heard again. He reported that a new investigation process was initiated following the reversal decision and that many new pieces of evidence were obtained in this context, noting that the defendant Yusuf Aydemir was arrested during the hearing held on January 16, 2026.

Tunç, who stated that he was removed from his position during a period when significant progress was made in the case, claimed that there were pressures behind this decision. Tunç said, "I have followed the murder case of Leyla Aydemir, who is etched in the memory of the entire society with her blue eyes, for years. Based on the special power of attorney given to me by mother Şükran Aydemir, I made maximum efforts for the judicial process to proceed flawlessly and effectively. I presented the evidence I obtained with great difficulties to prevent this case from remaining an unsolved murder. Thanks to the evidence I submitted, a reversal decision was made by the Court of Cassation. After the reversal decision, the case started to be heard again. Not stopping there, I ensured that a new investigation was opened to prevent the defendants from being acquitted again. Thanks to this investigation, many new pieces of evidence were obtained. After all this, a decision was made to arrest one of the defendants, Yusuf Aydemir, during the hearing on January 16, 2026, and the case is still ongoing. Unable to withstand the pressure from the family, relatives, and close ones of the defendant, who were disturbed by the progress of the case, Şükran Aydemir terminated our power of attorney relationship through a letter of dismissal. I no longer have the authority to follow the case according to legal regulations. I present this information to the public," he stated.
HEARING ON APRIL 10
The court had issued an arrest warrant for Yusuf Aydemir on the grounds of strong suspicion of "murder" and the possibility of fleeing. The case was postponed to April 10 during the hearing on January 16.
