The case continued regarding the lawsuit filed by Özer Aci and Pervin Aci, the parents of 29-year-old Oğuz Murat Aci, who lost his life in a traffic accident caused by 17-year-old Timur Cihantimur on March 1, 2024, against their daughter-in-law Şükriye Aci for not allowing them to see their grandchildren. In the preliminary hearing held at the Istanbul Family Court, the plaintiffs Özer Aci and Pervin Aci were present. The lawyers of both parties also attended the hearing.
REQUESTED TO ESTABLISH A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP AS A PRECAUTION
During the hearing, the plaintiff's lawyer Hacı Orhan stated that they were repeating their lawsuit petitions and requested to establish a personal relationship as a precaution. The defendant's lawyer requested a new report from a committee that included a child psychiatrist. It was ruled that a child psychiatrist should also be included in the committee.
The court, announcing its interim decision, ruled to send the file to the Judicial Support and Victim Services Directorate to evaluate the objections of the defendant's lawyer and decided to include a child psychiatrist in the committee. The court also ruled that the request for establishing a personal relationship as a precaution would be evaluated when the additional report arrived and postponed the hearing.
"WE ARE TRYING TO SUPPORT OUR CHILD'S CHILD"
After the hearing, Özer Aci, speaking in front of the court, said, "A report will be obtained, and based on that report, the judge will make a decision. At this point, two years have passed. Will the child recognize me after this time? Out of sight, out of mind. I don't understand what kind of decision the court is making regarding a person who carries my surname. What will happen if I see this child in 3-4 years, and what will happen if I don't see them? We have lost a child at the age of 29, buried them in the ground. We are trying to support our child's child; is it a crime? They shouldn't take offense," he said.
"ISN'T IT MY RIGHT TO SEE MY CHILD'S CHILD?"
Pervin Aci stated, "I want my child; I don't want anyone else. I want my child who carries my surname. Isn't it my right to see my child's child?"
