After the meeting of the party's Central Executive Board, AK Party spokesperson Ömer Çelik responded to claims that a CHP district mayor was invited to the AK Party by President Erdoğan, stating, "Many mayors want to meet with our President. There is no illegal situation here."

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated today that a CHP district mayor was called to the Presidential Complex by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan last week, expressing that he was invited to the AK Party.

After Özel's statements, it was revealed that the mayor who met with Erdoğan was Ali Demirçalı, the Mayor of Yüreğir. Responding to questions on the matter, Demirçalı confirmed Özel's statements, saying, "I thought a general discussion about Adana would take place. Our President welcomed us with courtesy. I informed the Headquarters and our esteemed Chairman before and after the meeting. I will meet whenever our President wishes," he said.

After the meeting of the Central Executive Committee (MYK) of his party, AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik responded to a question from the press regarding the issue. Stating that President Erdoğan's door is open to everyone, Çelik said, "There is no illegal situation." Çelik added, "I listened to Özel's speech. He speaks with codes like the Da Vinci Code. There is no need for that. He should say it clearly. There is no need for coded speech. Our President is the head of the state. Many mayors want to meet with our President. As long as his schedule allows, our President's door is open to everyone. When he goes to the provinces, mayors from various parties want to meet. There is no illegal situation."
