37-year-old Pilates instructor Larissa Talle Leoncio Rodrigues tragically lost her life after discovering that her husband was cheating on her. In an incident that took place in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil, her surgeon husband Luiz Antonio Garnica and mother-in-law Elizabete Arrabaça are accused of poisoning her to death.
After learning of her husband's infidelity, Larissa decided to file for divorce. However, according to the police investigation, her husband and mother-in-law wanted to prevent this from happening. The mother-in-law mixed a deadly poison known as "chumbinho," which is used as an agricultural pesticide, into Larissa's food.
According to Detective Fernando Bravo, the mother-in-law had researched how to buy poison about two weeks before the death and even called a farmer friend to gather information on the matter.
The surgeon husband’s behavior when he found his wife's body drew the attention of the police team. Garnica claimed that he came home and found his wife in the bathroom, and as a doctor, he tried to perform emergency intervention. However, detectives observed that the husband was also trying to destroy evidence in the apartment when the woman died.
Toxicology reports confirmed that traces of poison were found in Larissa's blood. Additionally, it was revealed that she had told her close friends that she felt unwell whenever her mother-in-law was at home.
Another surprising development occurred during the investigation. The doctor’s mistress was found in the apartment where the couple lived. Detective Bravo stated that the husband went to the movies with his mistress the day before the murder and was trying to create an alibi for himself.
The police are deepening the murder investigation by questioning both Larissa's husband and mother-in-law, as well as his mistress. The suspects are currently in custody.
