The long-standing feud among former partners at Atatürk Auto Industry flared up again with armed threats. Allegedly, 60-year-old Fevzi Ş., who had taken Faruk Derici as an apprentice 33 years ago and had a partnership with him for a time, stormed into Derici's workplace, issuing threats in the vicinity. In the incident where Derici's wife, Serpil Derici, intervened to shield her husband, moments of panic were captured on security cameras, and shortly after, the suspect was arrested by police teams.
In 1993, Fevzi Ş. established a car glass company in Sarıyer Maslak Atatürk Auto Industry with his cousin Ergin B. Fevzi Ş. also hired 14-year-old Faruk Derici as an apprentice at that time. In 2006, Fevzi Ş. made Faruk Derici a partner in the business. However, in 2017, the relationship between Fevzi Ş. and Faruk Derici deteriorated due to allegations of purchasing stolen goods. As a result of this incident, Fevzi Ş. transferred his rights in the shop to his cousin Ergin B. In 2019, Fevzi Ş. completely left the business by taking his share from Faruk Derici and Ergin B. Meanwhile, Fevzi Ş., who was imprisoned for a crime he committed, divorced his wife.
THREATENED WITH A GUN AND STRIPPED Fevzi Ş., who started receiving psychological treatment, opened a workplace in the auto industry about 6 months ago. Upon learning this, Faruk Derici and Ergin B. allegedly disrupted Fevzi Ş.'s relationships with his customers and the tradesmen he worked with. After learning that he was being spoken ill of, Fevzi Ş. shared a video containing insults about Faruk Derici and Ergin B. through a messaging application, whom he held responsible for the situation. After watching the video, Faruk Derici allegedly called Fevzi Ş. and insulted him. In response, Fevzi Ş. took his blank-firing gun and went to Derici's workplace in his vehicle. Drawing the gun, Fevzi Ş. began to threaten those in the workplace. At that moment, Faruk Derici's wife, Serpil Derici, intervened. After citizens also intervened, Fevzi Ş. stripped down and left the scene half-naked in his vehicle.
CAUGHT IN HIS SHOP Shortly after, Fevzi Ş., who returned unarmed, continued his threats. Leaving the scene again in his vehicle, this time he went to his shop. Following Derici's complaint, the Sarıyer Public Order Bureau teams initiated an investigation. The police, examining security camera footage, identified that the suspect was in his workplace. Fevzi Ş., who was caught in his shop, was taken to the police station along with the blank-firing gun he had thrown in the trash.
ARRESTED After his statement was taken and legal proceedings were initiated against him, Fevzi Ş. was subsequently referred to the courthouse. When brought before the court, Fevzi Ş. was arrested and sent to prison for the crimes of 'violating the firearms law', 'deliberately endangering public safety', 'threats and insults', and 'damaging property'. It was learned that Fevzi Ş. had 4 criminal records with the police.
"THEY DISRUPTED MY RELATIONSHIPS WITH CUSTOMERS AND TRADESMEN" In his statement, Fevzi Ş. said, "Ergin B. and Faruk Derici disrupted my relationships with the customers and tradesmen I worked with. They found my customers and spoke against me. Last night, because it was bothering me, I shared a video containing insults about these individuals while I was drunk. When Faruk Derici called me, I said, 'Who are you?' Faruk Derici then insulted me by saying, 'I am your husband. You couldn't take care of your wife, now you are with others.' I replied, 'Where are you?' Faruk told me, 'Come, I am at the shop.' I went to Faruk Derici's shop. When I opened the shop door and said, 'Where are you, come here,' Faruk Derici started to approach me with a hard object in his hand. His wife, Serpil Derici, intervened. She pushed me, and at that moment, she scratched my nose with her nail. I ran to my car, took my blank-firing gun, and pointed it in the air. At that moment, those present intervened. When the tradesmen around pushed me away, I returned to my shop. This incident happened because Faruk Derici insulted me, my daughters, and my ex-wife. Such events occurred because I lost control."
"I DIDN'T FEEL FEAR, IT WAS ABOUT MY FAMILY" Serpil Derici stated, "At first, I was in my office upstairs. I heard a noise and thought, 'They must be knocking on the door.' I went down and saw a jeep turning from there. When I saw the person inside, I thought, 'He is going to carry out an action.' When I went down, he had already pulled his vehicle here. He prepared the bullet in the gun. I confronted him and said, 'Why are you here, go away.' He started to speak sentences that would harm my family. I said whatever came to my mind. Of course, those were not the answers he wanted. This time he started to strip. You must have seen it in the camera recordings. He started to provoke my husband. We already had ongoing lawsuits with him before. We also had concluded cases. There was provocation; he was actually waiting for you to attack. Since we did not do it, he carried out such an action. My husband remained very calm. I had to struggle a bit. Honestly, I didn't feel fear. I faced something like that for the first time, but in the end, it was about my family. As you can see, the main connection of my office is there. It was possible for him to crash there; when he first came, he could have crashed, and I could have been downstairs. We could have died or been crushed. There are children working underneath; it could have been them. There are customer vehicles; our customers could have been there. Many things could have happened. We are now leaving it to the public. He is currently arrested; our lawsuits will continue."
"MY WIFE INTERVENED WITH A GUN" Faruk Derici stated, "When he saw the gun, I started to walk, and my wife directly intervened with the gun. To put it bluntly, she went in as if she would shoot me instead of him. After that, our worker friends were working here. He was out of control; we took our worker friends inside. He could enter with a vehicle. There is intent to harm here, both materially and morally. We have insured employees working there. Our lawyers have always handled our business officially. My wife directly hears the sound, and because he crashed into the corner, she comes down the stairs and comes to this section. He comes to this section, crashes into the metal, and continues. When he crashed, my wife, who works as an insured worker in accounting, comes down thinking there was an earthquake and comes to this section and parks the car where you are now. As soon as she gets out of the car, she draws her gun and prepares the bullet; I go out to the door to see what happened, and he says, 'Come here, you bastard, I will shoot you.'
I'm saying, 'I'm here, if you want to hit, you can hit, what business do you have with me, our relationship with you is over.' My wife says, 'Your husband is cheating on you,' 'Your husband has a friend.' My wife replies, 'My husband has never done such a thing, he cannot. If there is a problem, go solve it with someone else. If my husband is cheating, he is cheating on me. Just go away.' The shopkeepers come and say, 'Mind your own business.' He continues to aim the gun. I say, 'Since you aimed, if you can shoot, shoot.' The shopkeepers take me inside. Then it stops at this section, undresses. He continues to aim the gun. He puts the gun on the hood, undresses. Here is a display of power, insults, humiliations. Then he hits that solid block, the block we call a column, and tears off that shutter section. He keeps going and hides in a shop. We had already called the officers when we arrived. Our job is with justice, we have no other business. The officer friends caught him, and we believe that the necessary actions will be taken," he said.
