In the indictment of the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an investigation that began with allegations of false brand perception against social media influencers Özlem Altınok Öz, Tayyar Taylan Öz, and İbrahim Karaorhanlı resulted in a decision of non-prosecution for three charges. However, they were accused of money laundering following the detection of 10 million lira in tax evasion, and prison sentences of up to 7 years were requested.

DISMISSAL OF 3 CHARGES



In MASAK's report, it was noted that there was no data indicating that the defendants and companies in the investigation file formed an organization with the intent to commit crimes, and that the cosmetic product sales of Medelina Health and Advertising Services Ltd. Şti., of which the defendants are managers, were largely conducted through e-commerce channels, and there was no data indicating that these sales were fictitious transactions.



It was also stated that there was no data regarding the defendants' serious suspicions related to legal betting and gambling sites, cryptocurrency exchange companies, payment intermediary/e-money institutions, or their actions of preparing and using fake documents among themselves.



For this reason, it was recorded that a decision of non-prosecution was made against the defendants for the crimes of "forgery in official documents," "membership in an organization established for the purpose of committing crimes," and "fraud by cooperative managers within the scope of the cooperative's activities."



DETECTION OF TAX EVASION



In the indictment, it was stated that a tax examination was conducted regarding the Medelina company, in which the defendants are partners, and a tax crime report was prepared, and that prosecution was initiated against them for the crime of "violation of the Tax Procedure Law" at the Anadolu 74th Criminal Court of First Instance.



It was mentioned in the indictment that the public suffered a loss of 10 million lira due to tax evasion through the mentioned company, and that the penalty for this loss was 51 million lira, emphasizing that the crime of "violation of the Tax Procedure Law" was considered a predicate offense.

In the indictment, it was evaluated that the defendants laundered the income obtained through tax evasion and that sufficient evidence had been obtained to file a public lawsuit against them. It was recorded that the defendants did not accept the accusations against them, and a prison sentence of 3 to 7 years was requested for Özlem Altınok Öz, Tayyar Taylan Öz, and İbrahim Karaorhanlı for the crime of "hiding the illegal source of assets." The indictment was accepted by the Anadolu 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance. The defendants are expected to appear before the judge on November 19. Meanwhile, the appointment of trustees for 3 companies within the scope of the investigation continues.
