In Bolu, an 11-member family group having a picnic experienced great panic when lightning struck the tree they took shelter under to escape a downpour. While three people were injured in the incident, it was learned that 23-year-old Büşra Elçin, who suffered severe burns on her body, is in life-threatening condition.
It occurred in Bolu around 4:00 PM yesterday near the stream bed close to the Aladağ Kartal Forest Depot in the Aladağ region. A group of 11 relatives who were caught in a downpour while having a picnic in the area took shelter under a nearby tree. At that moment, lightning struck the tree.
3 PEOPLE INJURED
Among the group, Büşra Elçin (23), Ümit Elçin (32), and Mustafa Atçılı (42) were injured. Health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the region upon notification. The injured, Mustafa Atçılı, was taken to Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Training and Research Hospital, while Büşra and Ümit Elçin were brought to the emergency service at the Bolu İzzet Baysal State Hospital Köroğlu Unit.
ONE PERSON'S LIFE REMAINS IN DANGER
Büşra Elçin and Mustafa Atçılı, who sustained burns on their bodies, were transferred to the Burn Unit of Kocaeli City Hospital today after initial treatment in Bolu. Ümit Elçin was discharged. It was learned that Büşra Elçin's life is still in danger.
