Israel is planning a new and major attack on Lebanon, just like it did in the Sabra and Shatila massacre in 1982. The Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering dismissing Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on the grounds that he prevented a military attack on Lebanon.
Israel, which has caused the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians in the ongoing attacks in Gaza since October 7, is preparing for a major ground attack on Lebanon. In 1982, nearly 3,000 people were killed in Israel's attack on Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanese territory. On the anniversary of the bloody attack, the Tel Aviv government is preparing for an even greater massacre.
PREPARATIONS FOR ATTACK ON LEBANON CAUSE CRISIS
Israeli politics is discussing a new massacre in Lebanon after 42 years since the Sabra and Shatila massacre. There are discussions about the resignation of the Defense Minister who opposes this attack in the government led by Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense distributed weapons to civilian defense units in the north of the country. For this purpose, the Israeli army, which distributed leaflets from the air in the region, asked the civilians living in the south of Lebanon to evacuate the area.
NEW MASSACRE PREPARATION ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE MASSACRE
It is noteworthy that Israel's new attack plan on Lebanon coincides with the anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacres.
On September 15, 1982, after the Israeli army's occupation of Lebanon under the command of Ariel Sharon, the Sabra and Shatila Palestinian refugee camps were besieged by Israeli soldiers on September 16. The massacre, which lasted for 40 hours with the cooperation of the Israeli army and the Lebanese Christian Phalangist militias, ended on September 17.
According to the findings of the International Red Cross Committee, 2,750 civilian men, women, and children were killed. According to the first Israeli journalist to enter the camp after the massacre, Amnon Kapeliouk, the death toll was over 3,000. According to some Palestinian sources, the number of those killed exceeded 7,000. According to the Israeli army, the death toll was around 300.
