Preparation for war in Germany: A list of shelters is being prepared.

26.11.2024 17:50

Germany is preparing to list buildings such as metro stations and underground parking lots as shelters in case of a possible war with Russia.

As the Russia-Ukraine war continues with all its intensity, assessments are being made that the missiles being used in the war could be a harbinger or trigger of a new world war.

PREPARATIONS FOR WAR FROM GERMANY

The German government is preparing a list of public buildings that can be used as shelters in response to the possibility of a major war with Russia.

A spokesperson for the Interior Ministry stated in a press conference yesterday that among the structures being evaluated are metro stations, underground parking lots, and some other government buildings. The official added that citizens could also be encouraged to convert their basements and garages into shelters.

After the list is compiled, German citizens will be able to use an application prepared to find their nearest shelters.

Although the spokesperson did not mention the war in Ukraine during the briefing, the German newspaper Bild claimed that the decision to expand Germany's shelter network was made in light of the perceived threat of war with Russia.
