President Erdoğan attended the 5th European Political Community Summit in Budapest, Hungary, following the 11th Summit of the Turkish States Organization Heads of State Council in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. On his return home, Erdoğan answered questions from journalists on the plane, criticizing the Mayor of Ankara, Mansur Yavaş, without naming him. "MUNICIPALITIES THAT DO NOT PAY THEIR DEBTS TO THE PUBLIC..."Referring to the claim that the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality organized a concert for Ebru Gündeş costing 69 million on October 29, Erdoğan stated, "The announced figures are not simple numbers, they are not small numbers. When the documents related to these figures come out, what will they say? They need to account for this. This situation is a concrete indication of how resources that should be turned into public service are being squandered recklessly. Municipalities that do not pay their debts to the public are organizing million-dollar entertainments. We are faced with a mentality that cries out 'they do not let us work' when debts are requested on behalf of the people," he said. "THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE"Continuing his statement, Erdoğan said, "Municipalities run by the CHP have always been a clear indication of irresponsible management and the waste of public resources." He continued: "In an environment where worker strikes are taking place and basic municipal services are not being provided, it is necessary to question the priorities of the municipalities. However, there is no sense of responsibility in CHP-run municipalities. News is coming from cities managed by the CHP about streets filled with garbage and roads full of mud and potholes. We have already been explaining at every opportunity that the CHP is synonymous with garbage, mud, and potholes. Unfortunately, our nation painfully sees how justified our words are. If CHP municipalities are recklessly spending public resources while failing to meet the basic needs of the people, they need to be held accountable. We do not hesitate to ask this on behalf of our nation. As always, there is a serious lack of political responsibility and financial discipline in the CHP today."
