Following the sexual abuse of a 5-year-old girl by a foreign national in Kayseri yesterday evening, incidents occurred in the areas controlled by Turkish soldiers through the Euphrates Shield operation in Syria. Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun made a statement regarding the provocations. In a post on his social media account X, Altun shared noteworthy messages about the provocative incidents that took place in Kayseri the day before and in northern Syria today. Altun used the expression "Provocations that have been attempted to create a negative atmosphere and increase tension through Syrian refugees have been closely monitored." In this context, the relevant units of our state, under the coordination of the Communications Directorate, continue their work on a 24-hour basis against baseless allegations made especially on many platforms of social media, intentionally made false news with manipulated information, and all disinformation activities that will incite our citizens to provocation." WARNED CITIZENSAltun also warned citizens against false news, stating, "In order to support these efforts, we kindly request our citizens to not give credence to baseless news as always, to consider the dimension and possibility of disinformation in the dissemination of content, and to trust only reliable sources, especially our official authorities."
