FAHRETTİN ALTUN: WE MUST BE LEVEL-HEADED
Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, in a statement on his social media account, said, "We strongly condemn the disrespectful cartoons directed at the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by a group of ignorant individuals who claim to be a humor magazine and manage immoral publications."
This insult and disrespect towards our unique guide, the Prophet, cannot be masked by freedom of the press. Those who harbor this sick mentality will certainly be held accountable before the law. We must act with a level-headed approach, without giving way to provocations against these systematic provocations.
The Republic of Turkey will not give opportunities to these reckless individuals who shamelessly attack the high values of our nation," he stated.
ALI YERLİKAYA: I CONDEMN IT
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya also stated on his social media account, "I strongly condemn the shameless caricature of our Prophet (PBUH). What has been done is not freedom of the press. What has been done is not freedom of expression."
Such initiatives that demean our religious values and inflict deep wounds on the conscience of Muslims are intended for provocation, and those who dare to do this will be held accountable before the law.
I condemn this mentality that insults by caricaturing our Prophet," he wrote.
ÖMER ÇELİK: I CONDEMN THIS MENTALITY
AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated, "We condemn the disrespect shown to our Prophet by a humor magazine. This ugliness has nothing to do with art or freedom of thought. Disrespect towards our sacred values is a hate crime and a despicable act."
Just as we fight against the disrespect of fascists in Europe towards our sacred values, we will also fight against these despicable acts," he stated.
AK PARTY ISTANBUL PROVINCIAL CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR LEVEL-HEADEDNESS
AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir also called for level-headedness, stating: "I strongly condemn the so-called cartoon, which is an open insult and provocation against our sacred values. This is a deliberate and public attack against our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Prophet Moses (PBUH)."
Creating an agenda by attacking the beliefs and sacred values of this nation is neither art nor freedom of the press. It must not be forgotten that the aim of such attacks is to produce chaos and tension in society. Therefore, I invite our citizens to remain calm, to be level-headed, and to trust the legal process.
We will not fall for this game, we will not give opportunities to those who try to turn the streets into a provocation ground, and we will never allow mockery of our beliefs.
