After Barcelona, one of the teams in Spain's La Liga, announced its withdrawal from the European Super League project, Real Madrid also announced that it has reached an agreement with UEFA and the European Club Association (ECA) 'in the interests of European football.' In a statement from the club, it was said, "After months of discussions in the interest of European football, UEFA, ECA, and Real Madrid have reached a principled agreement for the benefit of European club football, respecting the principle of sporting merit, emphasizing the long-term sustainability of clubs, and enhancing the fan experience through the use of technology." The statement also provided information that "this framework agreement will also help resolve legal disputes related to the European Super League when a final agreement comes into effect."
