MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli reacted strongly to the events that took place in the Parliament during the swearing-in of Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi and Justice Minister Akın Gürlek. Stating that "the anti-democratic and fascist treatments of the CHP, which have reached the point of occupying the podium, cannot be justified or excused in any way," Bahçeli added, "The Nationalist Movement Party stands firmly behind and beside our esteemed President's decisions and visions, as well as our newly appointed ministers."
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi and Justice Minister Akın Gürlek took their oaths in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). However, tensions rose before the oath-taking ceremony of the two ministers. A verbal dispute escalated into a fistfight following the attempts of CHP deputies to occupy the podium.
BAHÇELİ REACTS TO THE EVENTS IN MEELİS
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli reacted to the events in the Assembly. In a written statement he made on social media, Bahçeli said, "The anti-democratic and fascist treatments of the Republican People's Party, which have reached the point of occupying the podium, cannot be justified or tolerated in any way."
In his statement, Bahçeli included the following remarks: "On one hand, a change of duty has occurred in the Presidential Cabinet within the framework of the imperative and inclusive provisions of the current Constitution, and on the other hand, it has taken place within the nature and linear provisions of the Presidential Government System. This democratic discretion and preference has occurred in a highly legal and legitimate manner.
On this occasion, I thank our Justice and Interior Ministers who requested to resign from their positions, and I wish success to the newly appointed Justice and Interior Ministers, who have been appointed within the framework of law and legitimacy, and I convey my congratulations.
"THE NATIONALIST MOVEMENT PARTY STANDS BEHIND AND BY OUR NEW MINISTERS UNTIL THE END"
Today, during the oath ceremony of our newly appointed ministers, especially our Justice Minister, in the General Assembly of TBMM, the anti-democratic and fascist treatments of the Republican People's Party, which have reached the point of occupying the podium, cannot be justified or tolerated in any way.
This intolerant and rude attitude has no relation or connection with either politics or democracy. It is clear that the disruptive and crisis-promoting political stance of the CHP is fundamentally hostile and antagonistic to the national will while attempting to undermine Turkish state and governance life.
The Nationalist Movement Party stands firmly behind and by our newly appointed ministers until the end, alongside the preferences and visions of our esteemed President."
