In the investigation launched regarding the "Cold War" program, the host Boğaç Soydemir and his guest Enes Akgündüz, who were arrested on charges of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility," appeared before the judge in the second hearing of their case, where they are being tried in custody.
4 YEARS 6 MONTHS OF SENTENCE WAS REQUESTED
Soydemir and Akgündüz connected to the court via SEGBİS from the prison where they are held. The first hearing took place immediately after the arrest decision with the acceptance of the indictment. In that session, the prosecution requested a prison sentence of up to 4 years and 6 months for the two defendants, as stated in the indictment. In the second hearing held today, the court proceeded to take defenses against the opinion.
Boğaç Soydemir stated, "I did not know that the saying was a hadith; when I learned, I removed the video from the broadcast and published an apology message. I did not act deliberately or intentionally. I request my release and acquittal."
Enes Akgündüz said, "My mother and father are standing in front of you. I have been detained for 32 days for a crime I never committed. As I mentioned before, I was included in the program from the guest artist's team. I did not know it was a hadith of our Prophet. I laughed as part of the format without understanding anything. I am a Muslim; I am not someone who would do something to mock my religion. I laughed there entirely due to the program's format. I did not understand the question at all. I appeal for my release and acquittal, seeking refuge first in God and then in your justice," he expressed.
