Reporter Merve Tokaz stated that she received death threats after not covering the news about Sadettin Saran, the President of Fenerbahçe Sports Club, who was released after giving a statement in a drug investigation. Tokaz said, "What I did regarding Mr. Sadettin Saran being summoned by judicial authorities was simply to convey the information I received from the judicial authorities directly and impartially to the audience. If something happens to me, the perpetrators are clearly visible on social media."

CNN Türk reporter Merve Tokaz announced that she was threatened after reporting on Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Sadettin Saran, who was questioned as a 'suspect' in a drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and subsequently released under judicial control.

Tokaz had shared live that Sadettin Saran gave a statement regarding the accusation of "drug trafficking." Following that, agencies reported that Saran was questioned for the crimes of "providing drugs" and "facilitating drug use."

"I AM EXPERIENCING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN MYSELF THIS TIME"

After her reports, Merve Tokaz stated that she was targeted on social media and received death threats. In a statement on her social media account, Tokaz said: "As a young female journalist, I have followed the news of violence against women for many years. However, this time I am experiencing violence against women myself. For about two days, I have been constantly targeted and receiving death threats.

"MY PROFESSION IS MY HONOR"

Regarding Sadettin Saran being summoned by judicial authorities, my only role has been to convey the information I received from the judicial authorities to the audience in a direct and impartial manner. To those who want to create a perception about me by saying that I am a Galatasaray fan, my response is; my profession is my honor.

"IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ME..."

I was very saddened to see that among those who targeted me were not only those who presented themselves as connected to the community but also my senior journalist colleagues. If something happens to me, the perpetrators are clearly visible on social media. At this point, I trust in divine justice and the Turkish judiciary above all. Respectfully."
