Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç reacted to the statement made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, claiming that a political ban would be imposed on him in the 'foolish' case in the appellate process, saying "I dare you, until the Supreme Court makes a decision, the people will send you home." Minister Tunç used the expression "No one can threaten the judiciary, no one can wag their finger."

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted to the claim that a political ban will be imposed on him in the 'fool' case, which is in the appellate process, without breaking his current HTML.

"THIS NATION WILL SEND YOU HOME"

Imamoğlu, who participated in a Sözcü TV broadcast, used the following statements regarding the case in which he was sentenced to 2 years, 7 months, and 15 days in prison for the crime of "insulting a public official due to his duty": "I challenge you. Will you impose a sentence? Go ahead and impose it. I promise you: This nation will rise up. Until this nation receives a decision from the Court of Cassation, it will not show you any mercy and will send you home. The method for that is clear as well. Early elections will come."

MINISTER TUNÇ: NO ONE CAN POINT A FINGER AT THE JUDICIARY

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, in response to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's challenge, stated to journalists who approached him about the issue: "It is not appropriate to make threatening statements regarding a case that is currently being heard. No one can point a finger at the judiciary. It is not suitable for our legal system. If you don't like the judicial decision, there is an appeal process. It is not appropriate for any official to use threatening language and point fingers in a bully-like manner. The judiciary is independent.

"JUDICIAL DECISIONS CAN BE CRITICIZED"

No one can intimidate judicial members. Judicial decisions can certainly be criticized. Judicial decisions can be criticized, they are not beyond criticism. Therefore, you cannot influence judicial members by going on a TV program and pointing fingers, threatening them. They will not be affected without anyone pointing fingers, and this should be known as well," he said.
