The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation into allegations that public harm was caused during the concerts organized by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) between 2021 and 2024. In this context, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had sent a letter to the Ministry of Interior requesting permission to investigate ABB President Mansur Yavaş.
Following this letter, it was claimed that the Ministry of Interior granted permission for the investigation and gave Yavaş one week to prepare a defense. In a statement made by ABB, these allegations were denied.
"THERE WAS NO NEED TO REQUEST YAVAŞ'S STATEMENT"
The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, denying the allegations, included the following statements in its announcement:
"In order to inform the public correctly regarding the news stating that 'the Ministry of Interior granted Mansur Yavaş one week to prepare a defense upon the request of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office,' it has become necessary to make a statement. As is known, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested permission to investigate from the Ministry of Interior regarding an indictment that does not mention Mansur Yavaş's name. Previously, the inspectors from the Ministry of Interior conducted a comprehensive examination regarding the process known to the public as the 'concert investigation' and did not find it necessary to even request Mansur Yavaş's statement."
The statement noted that inspectors were sent to the municipality by the Ministry of Interior, that Yavaş provided a written statement during this process, and that the process continued in a normal manner.
"THE 7-DAY PERIOD IS A ROUTINE PRACTICE"
In the municipality's statement, the following expressions were used regarding the allegations of the "7-day period":
"The 7-day period is merely part of the standard period of 7 to 10 days routinely granted for defense in administrative investigations. At the end of the process, the Ministry of Interior will decide whether to grant permission for the investigation or not. If permission is granted, we have the legal right to appeal against this decision."
