They kept him in poor conditions in the detention center for four days and sent him to the prosecutor's office without taking his statement at the police station. After the arrest decision, he was first taken to Metris and then to Paşakapısı Prison. Now they are transferring him to Silivri Prison without even giving him a chance to rest. The government has been implementing an organized deterrent policy against Rıza Akpolat from the very beginning," she stated. WHAT HAPPENED?Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat was detained as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding an alleged criminal organization led by Aziz İhsan Aktaş, which is accused of organizing tenders by bribing mayors and high-level officials of municipalities. Rıza Akpolat was arrested on charges of "establishing and managing a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "bribery," "interfering with a tender," "interfering with the performance of a contract," and "money laundering." Following his arrest, a statement was made from Akpolat's social media account, stating, "This frame-up case is an assassination of reputation. Our struggle to serve the public has not ended, and it will not end. The anger of millions fighting for rights, law, and justice will destroy your dark order," it was stated.
