Actor and gastronomy writer Rıza Sönmez has introduced his new book titled "Anadolu Vegan: Selected 444 Recipes" to readers. The book, which starts from the question "What can a vegan individual eat in Anatolian cuisine?", includes 444 recipes for dishes, compotes, jams, and pickles prepared without the use of animal products. The book, which examines the ancient culinary culture of Anatolia, held its food-themed launch invitation on the evening of November 5th, Wednesday, at Bağ Pera.
Actor and gastronomy writer Rıza Sönmez introduced his new book "Anatolian Vegan: Selected 444 Recipes," which embarks on a journey to rediscover the ancient culinary culture of Anatolia, to readers last month.
The starting point of the book is the question, "What can a vegan individual eat in Anatolian cuisine?" The work compiles 444 carefully selected vegan recipes for dishes, compotes, jams, and pickles, all prepared without any animal products.
Author Sönmez highlights the differences between similar recipes included in the book. He notes that these recipes vary according to local ingredients, ethnic origins, religious reasons, or seasonal influences, emphasizing that these small differences carry "the secret of flavor in food."
As Sönmez mentioned in a documentary series, "How is it that the same ingredients turn into completely different flavors in different hands? Just like a person's handwriting or fingerprint, flavors become distinct," drawing attention to this richness. The author states that these traces in the recipes witness the journey of all the peoples of Anatolia across generations.
The flavor-filled launch invitation for the "Anatolian Vegan" book took place on the evening of Wednesday, November 5, at Bağ Pera.
