The father of university student Rojin (21), whose lifeless body was found 18 days after she went missing in Van, Nizamettin Kabaiş, stated that DNA samples belonging to two men were found in his daughter's body during the examination conducted by the Forensic Medicine Institution.

Rojin Kabaiş, a first-year student in the Department of Child Development at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ), went outside after having dinner at the dormitory on September 27. Friends who could not reach Kabaiş by phone reported her missing to the police around 12:00 on September 28. It was determined that Kabaiş had said she would go to collect pebbles at the Van Lake shore around 18:30 on September 27, and a friend she invited to go with her had declined. On September 28, Rojin's mobile phone, headphones, cake, and water were found at the Van Lake shore. The phone was handed over to the police for examination. Rojin, who told her mother on the phone that she would go to the market to buy coffee, water, and cake, prompted the police, Gendarmerie Coast Guard, AFAD, and Metropolitan Municipality fire teams to initiate a search operation. On the 18th day of the search, Rojin Kabaiş's lifeless body was found by Mehmet Emin Ankay (60), who had come to water his garden, in the rural Mollakasım neighborhood of the Tuşba district, approximately 24 kilometers away from the YYÜ shore. Rojin Kabaiş's funeral was buried in the Yeniköy Cemetery in the Bağlar district of her hometown Diyarbakır after about 7 hours of autopsy procedures at the Forensic Medicine Institute.

'THEY MURDERED ROJİN, BEAT HER, AND LEFT HER THERE'

Rojin's father, Nizamettin Kabaiş, who stated that Rojin was beaten, said, "I took Rojin to the university myself. It was her first year, we went together. She was very happy and had no problems, and she went to school joyfully. We went to the market, had dinner, and took videos. I took her to the university, to the dormitory, we delivered her belongings, and walked in the garden. I told Rojin, 'Let's see your school.' She was very hardworking; she had seen her school online before. She told me, 'The school and the dormitory are very close to each other.' We went, and it was indeed very close. We wandered a bit, took a video, and finally said goodbye to her when I was taking her to the dormitory. We recorded a video waving, happily, and smiling as she went inside. There is a distance of 24 kilometers between the place where Rojin's lifeless body was found and the university. The distance between Mollakasım and the university is 24 kilometers. They beat her, they murdered her. In the end, they took her there and left her. No one should say that Rojin committed suicide or drowned. Absolutely not. Rojin did not commit suicide. They murdered Rojin, beat her, and took her there and left her," he said.

'THE HEADSCARF WAS LEFT BY THE PEOPLE WHO BEAT ROJİN'

Kabaiş claimed that Rojin's headscarf was left on the 13th day of the search, saying, "After 13 days, while the search was still ongoing, they brought the headscarf and left it by the lake. There was a distance of 150 meters between the headscarf and the phone. That headscarf was not even by the lake. It was about 4-5 meters away from the lake and was left on a handful of sand. Apparently, it was left there by the people who beat Rojin. They brought it there later to cover their tracks. The police said, 'Don't interfere.' They did not allow me to take a photo. They waited there, and the crime scene came. They took it for analysis. We requested the results twice, but they still haven't come to us. They insisted on searching Bardakçı village but did not search the other villages or houses. The police, who were younger than me, told me, 'Uncle, we have searched all these villages.' I asked them, 'How did you search?' They drove around the village and the streets but did not search the houses. I asked the police, 'Did you search inside the houses?' They said, 'Honestly, we did not search inside the houses. But we reviewed the cameras,'" he said.

'THEY TOOK DNA SAMPLES FROM 47 PEOPLE, THERE IS DNA FROM 2 MEN'

Kabaiş claimed that an examination conducted by the Forensic Medicine Institute found DNA samples belonging to 2 men on Rojin's body, saying, "They took DNA samples from 47 people. There is DNA from 2 different men. If they find and catch them, the issue will be resolved. Besides these, there are other pieces of evidence. I saw it with my own eyes. They had lifted my daughter's sweater up to her belly before I entered. There was no water in her stomach. There were bruises on her back. I saw both of them with my own eyes. We were saying there were bruises, but they were calling it discoloration. I saw it with my own eyes; it was not discoloration. I saw both things; her face was swollen before the autopsy even started. There was blackness on both eyelids and her forehead, but her face was swollen. That swelling had a smell of medication. They had also left a cotton ball like a bracelet under her throat. Apparently, they had harmed her there too. In the autopsy report, they had written that her esophagus was cracked. I saw these 3-4 things before the autopsy started, but I did not see her throat. They had pulled the chain of the body bag. They had not opened it completely. Apparently, there were bruises on her feet too, but I did not see that. Later, they sent me a photo, and I saw that in that photo," he said.

'ROJİN SPOKE WITH HER ROOMMATE 2 TIMES LAST'

Kabaiş, who wanted the authorities to follow Rojin's case, said: "Rojin spoke with her roommate 2 times last. While talking to her mother, she had come to the door of the market but did not enter the market. The police explained it to us one by one. Rojin spoke with her roommate 2 times. Once she spoke with her roommate, about 13 minutes passed, and she seemed to have waited for her there. It is visible on the camera. In the last instance, Rojin called her friend and said, 'If you have come, bring my charger too,' and her friend replied, 'I came down from the dormitory, I cannot go up.' They spoke like that. I ask everyone, whether they are authorities, whoever it may be, whether it is the university, the police, or the prosecutor's office, I ask everyone to follow Rojin's case. Let’s find these murderers as soon as possible, so they do not roam among us.
