Russia Says 3 Ukrainian Fighter Jets, 13 Drones Downed Overnight

Defense Ministry says large railway shipment of Ukrainian weapons, military equipment destroyed by high precision missiles.

Russia on Monday said it shot down three Ukrainian fighter jets and 13 unmanned aerial vehicles overnight.
Speaking at a press briefing in Moscow, Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said two Ukrainian ballistic missiles Tochka-U and eight shells fired from the Smerch multiple rocket launcher were downed as well.
Russian forces also destroyed a large shipment of weapons and military equipment, which were heading to Donbas from the west of Ukraine via railway, with high-precision long-range sea-based missiles.
Meanwhile, high-precision air-based missiles hit four command points, a communication center, six ammunition depots, one Osa-AKM air defense system, and 48 areas of concentration of manpower and military equipment, Konashenkov said.
Separately, the Russian air forces hit an ammunition depot and 39 areas of concentration of manpower and military equipment, he added.
"In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 177 aircraft, 125 helicopters, 990 unmanned aerial vehicles, 319 air defense systems, 3,226 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 421 multiple rocket launchers, 1,643 field artillery and mortar guns, as well as 3,106 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed," the spokesman said.
At least 3,838 people have been killed and 4,351 injured since the war began on Feb. 24, according to UN estimates. The true toll is believed to be much higher.
Nearly 6.5 million people have fled to other countries, while over 7.7 million people remain internally displaced, according to the UN refugee agency. -
