Russia, the first country to recognize the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan under the Taliban's rule, officially accepted the ambassador's letter of credence in a formal ceremony.
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, who is the first country to officially recognize the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan by the Taliban's administration in Afghanistan, accepted the letter of credence from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan's Ambassador to Moscow, Mevlevi Gül Hasan. By accepting the ambassador's letter of credence months after recognizing the Afghan administration, Russia thus formalized the ambassador's diplomatic status.
According to information reported by Russia's state news agency TASS; it was reported that Putin received the letters of credence in an official ceremony at the Kremlin attended by numerous foreign diplomats. During the ceremony held in the Alexander Hall of the Kremlin Palace, the letters of credence of 34 newly appointed ambassadors from Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East were presented.
